Item Acompanhamento zootécnico de potros Mangalarga Marchador(2025-08-05) Souza, Inêz Rodrigues Castro de; Manso, Helena Emília Cavalcanti da Costa Cordeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7040279344981888Item Avaliação do índice reprodutivo: ratas hairless (Rattus norvegicus)(2022-10-05) Oliveira, Joelline Rebecca Pimentel Leite de; Manso, Helena Emília Cavalcanti da Costa Cordeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7040279344981888; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1195823560603023Several works with small rodents have been carried out since the creation of the Wistar Institute, in 1894, located in Pennsylvania. However, the use of animals in the field of science is nothing new, because in order to promote the development of medicine, the technique of vivisection and dissection has been used as a comparison to human physiology since ancient times. Thus, rats (Rattus norvegicus) became good study models due to their short life cycle and docility. In the literature, the Hairless lineage counts as an animal with little maternal care, as it is described as an animal that produces less milk. In addition to the lack of fur, it ends up not warming the puppies as they should. However, in the vivarium of the Dois Irmãos State Park (PEDI) it was empirically noted that the rats, in addition to being more productive, also always weaned the entire litter in a healthy way. Therefore, the present work aimed to prove, through statistical analysis, whether this fact was true or not. A total of 78 rats were used, 60 of which had normal fur and 18 had the Hairless gene mutation. The animals were distributed in 26 polypropylene boxes that contained two females and one male. These were divided into three experimental groups, group 01 being at least a normal female and a normal male; group 02 two hairless females; group 03 normal females and the male Hairless. Data were obtained on the number of animals born, weaned, deaths, transferred, number of births and number of offspring per birth. Data were analyzed using the Statistical Analysis System Software (SAS®, version 9.3; SAS® Institute Inc., Cary, NC, USA). Tables 01 and 02 show that the results did not differ. With this, it can be seen that the Hairless rats of the PEDI are as productive as the non-mutant rats. However, several factors may have influenced the results, such as climate, luminosity and genetic interaction. Therefore, further studies are recommended to be carried out on site.Item Índice de escore corporal em cavalos de trabalho e atletas(2018-08-24) Oliveira, Virgínia Theodora Brito Marques de; Manso, Helena Emília Cavalcanti da Costa Cordeiro; Manso Filho, Hélio Cordeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5631206025493479; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7040279344981888; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1481178969488295The objective of this study was to evaluate the body condition score index in work horses and athletes, in order to know if there is difference in body scores between physical activity categories. Data were collected in the months of May and June of 2018. Fifty animals of both sexes were evaluated in the age group from 3 to 16 years and that they were performing physical activities regularly. Being: 27 working horses (traction); 23 service horses (PMPE cavalry); 41 horsepower; 31 horses of vaquejada; and, 28 racing horses. The evaluation of the corporal score was performed according to the methodology established by Henneke et al. (1983) established 6 areas of palpation and visualization in the body to determine fat deposition and nutritional status on the scale from 1 to 9. The cowherd animals had a higher body score than those of running and work, and a similar result to gait and service. Although the animals begin to deposit fat when they reach adulthood, there was no difference between the age groups <5, between 5 and 10, and> 10 years. The mean body score of the female animals (~ 4.91) was higher than the mean male (~ 4.67). The males were similar in relation to the physical activity, the values were similar for those of vaquejada (with higher value ~ 5,10), gait, running and service, and the lowest score was observed in working males (~ 3.87). When the females with the same parameter were evaluated, the ones with the lowest value were those of running (~ 4.25) with approximate results to the work (~ 4.50), and there was no difference among the cowherd females, which presented higher scores (~ 5.27) and those of service, walking and work. When males and females were evaluated for physical activity, males had a higher score (~ 4.85) than females (~ 4.25), and females (~ 4.50) larger than males (~ 3.87). For all other categories, no differences were observed. ECC evaluation remains a valid method for indicating the nutritional level of the animal. The results show that there is interaction between body condition score and physical activity category performed by horses.Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório(2019-06-26) Galvão, Rennan Tavares Cordeiro; Manso, Helena Emília Cavalcanti da Costa Cordeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7040279344981888; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0739887381555573Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório(2019-02-01) Oliveira, Virgínia Theodora Brito Marques de; Manso, Helena Emília Cavalcanti da Costa Cordeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7040279344981888; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1481178969488295Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório(2023-04-17) Souza, José Tiago Martins de; Manso, Helena Emília Cavalcanti da Costa Cordeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7040279344981888; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3715102357431967Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório(2019-06-28) Torres, Isadora Mariana Marques; Manso, Helena Emília Cavalcanti da Costa Cordeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7040279344981888; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5657947834935924Item Relatório de Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório: boas práticas para o bem-estar animal em competições equestres(2024-03-01) Cavalcanti, Amanda Barbosa de Siqueira; Manso, Helena Emília Cavalcanti da Costa Cordeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7040279344981888; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5972982453438490Item Relatório do Estágio Supervisionado Obrigatório: Parque Estadual Dois Irmãos - fauna silvestre(2024-03-05) Silva, Karla Tamires Costa da; Manso, Helena Emília Cavalcanti da Costa Cordeiro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7040279344981888; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7979379154298688The present work refers to the Mandatory Supervised Internship (ESO), carried out at the Dois Irmãos State Park (PEDI), located in Recife, Dois Irmãos neighborhood, between the period from October to February 2024, under the guidance of Pra. Helena Emília Cavalcanti da Costa Cordeiro Manso and supervision by Zootechnician Thayná Milano Assis Atroch de Miranda. The internship activities were carried out in the Park's animal nutrition (DNA) department. The main activities involved the daily routine in the vivarium and the department's kitchen, putting into practice all the learning during the zootechnics degree.
