Distinção socioespacial: uma análise do Shopping Riomar Recife

The present work aims to investigate subjective actions of segregation and social class hierarchization in the spatial configuration strategies of Shopping Riomar Recife to offer visibility to the social dynamics of this shopping center. As an establishment primarily geared towards the reproduction of capital in the form of merchandising and consumption of goods that employs symbolism and a sense of belonging, but also historically planned to commercialize the bourgeois lifestyle, generating identification and positioning among visitors and staff. The social sciences play an important role in investigating the social dimensions of consumption by observing the existence of limiting access markers in these spaces as a cut-off of constitutive practices of identification, as individuals can, through the purchase of a certain product or service, reflect characteristics of the social class and dominant structure to which they belong, establishing private signs and dividing lines of taste hierarchization. With this purpose, we use the qualitative methodology of direct observation, image analysis, and interviews to investigate the imposition of values that reproduce symbolic violence in these spaces.

The purpose of this research was to understand how the nature of the ownership of the real estate properties acquired through public policies for housing can affect the feeling of satisfaction and belonging of the individual to his new habitat, analyze public policies for housing over the years and identify how the Beberibe PAC project was executed in Pernambuco and how it has influenced the residents lives on the region where interventions took place. The research was done through interviews and data analysis, trying to comprehend how possession and belonging are related and how this relationship affected the adaptation of these resettled families.
A fragmentação do espaço no Recife

O debate público e a ação conjunta de novos ativismos urbanos têm posto o espaço e o planejamento urbanos em evidência, fazendo reacender a necessidade de se pensar em caminhos para a construção de cidades mais democráticas. Contudo, as leituras mais difundidas da realidade urbana periférica, e mesmo aquelas cuja validade científica é inegável, ainda não são capazes de apontar caminhos à transformação da realidade urbana subdesenvolvida, sobretudo frente ao quadro de fragmentação que se estabelece de forma crescente. Neste sentido, torna-se cada vez mais urgente a reelaboração de leituras críticas sobre a cidade, alinhadas à toda tradição crítica dos estudos urbanos, que permitam conhecer as raízes dos problemas, bem como os caminhos para uma verdadeira transformação urbana. Este livro sintetiza as principais ideias contidas em minha tese de doutoramento, cujo objetivo foi apontar as nuances da fragmentação do espaço no Recife com base em pesquisa teórica, histórico-geográfica e no estudo da "vida entre-muros", isto é, do cotidiano daqueles cujo sentimento do medo tem sido o principal afeto estruturador de sua sociabilidade. Pretendemos, assim, juntar elementos para a construção de uma leitura crítica da realidade urbana desta cidade, demonstrando que o caráter morfologicamente insular sobre o qual a cidade inicialmente se edificou permaneceu no transcurso dos anos, assumindo, então, o que estamos chamando de “insularidade social". Os estudos e pesquisas que alicerçaram a tese foram realizados com suor e muita luta, tendo em vista os inúmeros percalços no trajeto, sejam eles de ordem política, social ou pessoal. Mas tratou-se de uma caminhada que não foi vencida sem companhia, graças a contribuição de muitos. Assim, devo reconhecer que me beneficiei sobremaneira das leituras e orientações realizadas pelas professoras Edvânia Tôrres, Aura González e Mariana Zerbone, bem como da contribuição dos demaisintegrantes da banca de defesa, os professores Tomas Lapa, Onilda Bezerra e Ruskin Marinho. “Mas que saudade da minha praça modesta [...] onde viver era bom”: os espaços públicos de lazer enquanto loci para o comum urbano

This monograph aims to highlight how the institution of the urban common relates to the appropriation of urban squares and parks as public spaces for leisure, having as guiding question: to what extent does the social appropriation of urban squares and parks as public leisure spaces enable the institution of the Common? In terms of methodology and methods, the research is considered fundamental regarding its nature, exploratory-descriptive concerning its objectives, and qualitative in relation to data tabulation and approach. It is based on a bibliographic research of the main theories of the Common, situating the theme of the urban Common within these frameworks, utilizing articles sourced at the Scielo platform and theses and dissertations from graduate programs with a qualis coefficient of 5 or higher. The research design involves a multiple case study, with the collection of twelve semi-structured interviews — six at Luiz Lopes Correia Square and six at the Bela Vista Park, both located in the city of Vitória de Santo Antão-PE. Urban commons are essential for the debate on the Common in a globalized context marked by power struggles and not only spatial fragmentation but also fragmentation of interpersonal relationships. Recreation, referring to playfulness and the process of creating experiences and new living, permeates various stages of life and denotes the possibilities for social change through the realization of either leisure or idleness. Squares and parks present the institution of network territories or discontinuous territories, which feature numerous spaces whose social appropriation comes from distinct groups with specific needs, often producing conflict situations among them. From the analysis of interviews and real-time observation, it is recognized that public squares and urban parks function as loci of routine social encounters, which help nourish leisure as a manifestation of culture, fostering urban dialogue and representing territories of human life, while requiring, in particular, the political and social organization necessary for the culture of the urban Common.

The present work aims to identify the neoliberal rationality traits in the Novo Ensino Médio (NEM)’s construction, specifically on the formative itineraries’ application, a crucial tool on the Brazilian high school reform. Via this research, we aim to contribute to the critical debate upon the Brazilian high school reform, bringing to the light the insertion of the neoliberal rationality through market interference in the public policies conception and the establishment of a market discourse into Education. This work uses a qualitative methodology, through a documental and bibliographical analysis to promote the proposed objective.
O Território Estratégico de Suape e as condições de habitação no município do Cabo de Santo Agostinho/PE

The objective of this work was to analyze the impact of the Strategic Territory Plan of Suape on the housing conditions of the municipality of Cabo de Santo Agostinho. When considering the influence of the Suape Industrial Port Complex and the creation of the Strategic Territory in the development of the city, in view of its historical formation of precariousness and segregation of the poorest. As a methodological path, a bibliographic review was carried out with a focus on debates on housing, development and history of the city of Cabo de Santo Agostinho, together with the survey of IBGE, CONDEPE/FIDEM, João Pinheiros Foundation, etc., on the infrastructure and conditions housing projects, with the objective of identifying the possible transformations promoted by the large investments and policies directed to the host municipality of Suape. However, what we were able to learn is that despite the great economic growth of the municipality, social ills are still widely present in its infrastructure.
