Item Estéticas do vampiro: o clássico e o contemporâneo em Drácula, de Bram Stoker e Crepúsculo, de Stephenie Meyer(2019-12-13) Lima, Edivan Almeida; Silva, Monaliza Rios; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8558188707796223; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3993985577699753This paper proposes a comparative study between different aesthetics of the vampire character in Dracula (STOKER, 1897) and Edward Cullen (MEYER, 2005). For such study, we performed in the first instance a bibliographical review about the historical context of the societies corresponding to each work. After this moment, we analyze some materials about Fantastic Literature, and more deeply, Gothic Literature, to contextualize the works cited. Soon after, we began to observe the description of the vampire character: legends, myths and possible explanations about the origin of this being. For this, we bring the discussions of several scholars, among them: Santos; Santos; Silva (2013); Silva; Lourenço (2010); Todorov (1981); Dolphin (1985) and Lovecraft (1973). Finally, we come to the comparison of this character in the works of Stoker and Meyer, paying attention to the similarities and divergences of their physical, emotional characteristics and their mystical constructions. We realize that the aesthetics presented by the protagonists of the corpus in question present a classic vampire in Stoker's Dracula and the contemporary vampire in Edward Cullen of Meyer in their characteristics and actions in their narratives.
