| dc.description.abstract | Os estudos historiográficos sobre Jorge Benci estão longe de serem abundantes se comparados aos de jesuítas que lhe foram contemporâneos, como Antônio Vieira. A escassez de trabalhos talvez se justifique pelo fato destes estarem, quase sempre, limitados à análise da obra benciana Economia cristã dos senhores no governo dos escravos (1705), circunscrevendo os debates sobre o jesuíta itálico e suas produções apenas ao tema da escravidão africana. O objetivo deste estudo, portanto, é analisar a historiografia produzida sobre Jorge Benci, desde a década de 1980, com o fim de apontar novos questionamentos e caminhos de análise para as futuras pesquisas sobre o padre jesuíta. | |
| dc.description.abstractx | Historiographical studies on Jorge Benci are far from being abundant compared to those of Jesuits who were his contemporaries, such as Antônio Vieira. The scarcity of works is perhaps justified by the fact that they are, almost always, limited to the analysis of Benciano's work Christian Economy of Masters in the Government of Slaves (1705), limiting the debates about the Italic Jesuit and his productions only to the theme of African slavery. The objective of this study, therefore, is to analyze the historiography produced about Jorge Benci, since the 1980s, in order to point out new questions and paths of analysis for future research on the Jesuit priest. | |
